I know cruising isnt for anyone and I was one of the biggest skeptics, but I find myself drawn to cruising for very different reasons.
- Vacation starts instantly– The minute you get on the ship, your vacation starts instantly. I often find when I do a traditional vacation I lose 2 days in travel, but with cruises (especially if you live close to a port) you maximize every single day so 7 days feels truly like a 7 day vacation. No getting to airport early, no waiting on flight delays.. once you walk on board, your vacation starts.
2. Ocean views– I am not sure I would ever cruise without a balcony ocean view. – I am not sure I would ever cruise without a balcony ocean view. For me, the best part of cruising is the view from your room. In mornings I would have coffee on my balcony, in the afternoon I would sometimes read while enjoying the view and before dinner I would enjoy a glass of wine watching the sunset.

3. Afternoon naps – I am not a napper at all, however, I loved getting into bed mid afternoon and falling asleep. Maybe its white noise or gentle rocking, but I loved it.
4.Room Service Coffee– I loved bring able to preorder my coffee and pastries for arrival in the morning. I just felt taken care of. No callung, no waiting – like clock work, it showed up each morning on time.
5. Long fancy lunches – I am not a lunch person in general, however on my last cruise I opted to go to the main dining room for a very fancy 3 course lunch and I enjoyed it while watching the stunning views.

6. Embracing activities that I don’t normally do. On a cruise ship there are so many activities, but not all of them are things I would normally do. I found myself each morning looking forward to doing ‘puzzle of the day’ which was suduko or a crossword puzzle, running on an outdoor cruise track or simply playing connect four in the game room. I also found time to indulge and enjoyed an extra long massage at the spa on one of the port days.
