Castaway Cay is Disney’s Private Island that many Disney Cruises stop at. For many, this is the highlight of their trip and who can blame them?? Your own private island, beautiful water, great food – the list goes on.
Disney offers plenty of Castaway Cay excursions from snorkeling to fishing and more, but if I am honest, I don’t think you need any of that. There is so much to do on the Island that is included and plus feeling not ‘rushed’ is a nice feeling.
Our boat – (the Disney Fantasy) docked around 8 or 830 am, after we had breakfast we made our way off the boat at around 930 am and took a tram to the 2nd beach area. We were able to find decent chairs and parked ourselves for the day. Below is a rough itinerary of what we did as a family:
OUR CASTAWAY CAY DAY

930 am Off the Boat and Getting Chairs.
1015 am my daughters and I decided to run the 5K, it was a great way to see the island and it gets hot, so doing it easy is great. (Don’t ask, but I got lostish on the 5k, so I ended up doing more like 8K!).
1115 am back at the beach chairs/changed into swimsuits and did a quick swim with the kids and hit the water slides.
1230 pm Lunch – this was so well organized and it was a delicious beach BBQ with of course unlimited soft serve.
115 pm – 3 pm back at the beach chair, swimming, reading, chilling. 🙂
3/330 pm – we were getting hot, so we decided to go back to the boat and met a few characters along the way.
4 pm back in room to shower/change/chill out before our 545 pm dinner.
As you can see from the above, the day was super fun and chill and the time goes fast!
There are a couple items I would bring to Castaway Cay so you don’t have to pay on the island. (these are linked to Amazon for ease)
Snorkel Set for Kids and Snorkel Set for Adults
Water Bottle for refill drinks
Mesh Beach Bag helps keep the sand away
