Ask any experienced cruiser and everyone will have their own ‘don’t leave without’ item. I have rounded up some items that many cruisers swear by. Please comment below if you have other tips and be sure to follow, like or share if these tips were helpful!

MUST HAVE ITEMS

  1. Motion Sickness Medicine– everyone has their recommendations, some like the natural ginger chews and seabands to medicated options like bonine or dramamine. Personally the seabands were perfect for my family.
  2. Magnetic Hooks – so many swear by these. The cruise cabin walls are a giant magnet board. These hooks are convenient for hanging lanyards, clothing, bathing suits, hats and shoe organizers (more on that next)

3. Shoe Organizer – while some do use it for shoes, others use it to truly organize the cabin. Each pocket row is assigned to family members and you can put your lanyards in it, phone, bathing suit, hair accessories etc think of it as an extra set of drawers. These can not go over the door (they damage) so be sure to use the magnetic hooks.

4. Motion Sensor Lights for late night bathroom trips. Since you are sharing a small space and you don’t want to wake up your entire cabin, having these small motion night lights is very helpful.

5. Towel Bands or Clips – ocean air can be breezy and nothing ruins a good deck day by you chasing your towels around as they blow. Towel clips are a game changer and they help also identify your chair.

6. Collapsible laundry basket to keep dirty clothes organized. Cruise rooms are small and nothing makes it feel smaller then dirty clothes all over. These baskets take up little room in luggage and can help your room stay serene.

7. Waterproof phone protectors- when doing an excursion or just laying by the pool its a good idea to protect your phone.

8. Mini Fan – some people like it for white noise and others like a cool breeze in their room. These mini usb fans have decent ratings and a low price if you need one.

9. Collapsing Beach Toys if you are planning a beach excursion, packing these collapsing beach buckets is a great idea. They take up no room in your bag and you can rake them port to port for your little one to enjoy. They come in really cute colors!

10. Waterproof Card Games. There is so much to do on a cruise you may not need these, however, if you are like us, we love some downtime and really enjoy a game of uno or cards on vacation.

11. Portable Phone Charger. These are small and compact and essential for port days as you dont want to be left without power.

12. Water bottles- throughout the ship you can fill up on water, juice and soft drinks. These make it super easy to transport your drinks. I high recommend a different color per family member.

13. Lanyards – dont forget to bring these. They are very convenient for your room key. Just hang it around your neck to save you from fishing around your bag or pocket.

14. Ziplock bags. Yes! Great for grabbing an extra muffin or donut from the ship for off shore excursions. Love these also for wet bathing suits if you are changing after an excursion.
